SUSTAINING PATIENT MANAGEMENT

On Tuesday 7th August, the Kenya team discussed how Kangemi Health Centre can manage emergency case patients without support from partners.
We also discussed how to motivate Perez and Lilian, who are the community focal people in Kangemi, to handle this problem more sustainably.
Among the suggestions we came up with include the following:
Advocating for the county government to establish an emergency kitty fund to facilitate quick movement and medical attention of the patients.
To establish an income-generating protect whose profits can be used to help the emergency cases
To encourage closer monitoring of the patients by the community health assistant (CHA), CHVs and their leaders. This will make it possible to get the patients before they get so sick to the point of emergency.
The area chief can also be involved to encourage the local administration to act swiftly to save a life whenever a case of emergency happens.
The team agreed to encourage the county and sub-county health departments to address the issues. Mr Tomoki would be the lead person in these efforts.
