Nairobi Water and Sanitation Boosted by African Development Bank.

The Ministry of Water and Sanitation has received 45 billion Kenyan shillings in grant from African Development Bank (ADB) that will be utilized to increase water coverage from 60 percent to 80 percent in Nairobi city.

Water and Sanitation Cabinet Secretary Said the grant will go towards supplying more water to Nairobi residents who don’t have access to the commodity.

On Wednesday October 3, 2018, the cabinet secretary of water and sanitation said that the project will produce additional 140,000 cubic metres which will benefit 1.3 million Kenyans and create at-least 150,000 jobs for Kenyans.

The project which will be complete in December 2019 is a positive move towards the realization of 100% supply of water to Kenyans by 2030. The project is located in central Kenya but will be replicated to other drier parts of the country also.

This boost in water supply to Nairobi will bring joy to residents who are struggling with inadequate water that is not safe in most cases. This will enhance sanitation at large and improve health of people in return.
